Daniel Mitry

Daniel is a Principal and Co-founder of Empire IP with more than fifteen years of experience in patent litigation, prosecution and licensing.  He is a registered patent attorney with a background in computer science.  Daniel has extensive experience with numerous technologies, including wireless systems, network hardware and software, biometric authentication, digital rights management, online search and advertisement methodologies, vehicle software and hardware systems, and location-based content delivery.

Daniel is involved in all aspects of Empire IP’s patent monetization efforts, overseeing hundreds of patent licensing and enforcement matters.  Daniel’s responsibilities include patent acquisitions, managing negotiations with licensees, overseeing outside patent litigation and prosecution counsel, and participating in all phases of patent litigation.

Prior to founding Empire IP, Daniel worked at some of New York City’s most prestigious law firms, representing some of the world’s largest technology companies.  Daniel has also served as Senior Intellectual Property Counsel at one of the largest financial software and media companies in the world, where he was responsible for managing patent prosecution, patent litigation and software licensing.

Daniel has a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science from the University of Maryland and a Juris Doctor from Brooklyn Law School.


Timothy Salmon

Tim is a registered patent attorney who brings over fifteen years of experience in patent law to Empire IP.  As a Principal and Co-founder, Tim is personally involved in all aspects of Empire IP’s patent monetization and development efforts, including acquisition due diligence, directing prosecution strategies, negotiating license and sale transactions, managing enforcement litigation, and overseeing post-grant proceedings before the United States Patent and Trademark Office.

Through his work experience as an engineer and a patent attorney, Tim has developed in-depth knowledge of a wide variety of technologies, such as medical devices, wireless protocols and systems, embedded applications, laser- and imager-based scanners, automotive technologies, search algorithms and telecommunications systems.

Prior to founding Empire IP, Tim worked as an attorney at law firms in New York City prosecuting patent applications and litigating patent infringement cases before federal courts and the United States International Trade Commission on behalf of individual inventors, small businesses and the world’s largest corporations.  Most recently, Tim was Senior Patent Counsel at a global pharmaceutical company, responsible for protecting and enforcing the company’s intellectual property related to injection devices, drug/biologic-device combination products, blood glucose measurement devices and packaging systems.

Tim has a Bachelor of Science in Biomedical Engineering from the University of Rochester and a Juris Doctor from St. John’s University School of Law.
